PURPOSE:To reduce installation cost and operation cost by using seawater as an absorbent of carbon dioxide. CONSTITUTION:The combustion gas from a combustion furnace 1 is guided to a direct contact-type absorbing tower 3 through a combustion gas pipe 2. Seawater being an adsorbent of carbon dioxide is sprayed into the absorbing tower 3 from the tower top thereof through a cooling seawater line 4 and carbon dioxide in the combustion gas is absorbed in seawater. The combustion gas from which carbon dioxide has been removed is discharged to the open air from the tower top of the absorbing tower 3 while seawater having carbon dioxide absorbed therein is discharged to the sea from the tower bottom of the absorbing tower 3.
