PURPOSE: To provide a pyroelectric detector, which is produced easily and inexpensively by arranging a screen printed type heat insulating layer between a lower electrode and a substrate, making an upper electrode thermally absorbing and letting piezoelectric ceramic materials at the sometime have pyroelectric characteristics for a pyroelectric detector element, having a layer of piezoelectric ceramic materials between the electrodes on the substrate. CONSTITUTION: A layer 1 of ink, diffusing the mixture of heat insulating agent and glass powder in rheology liquid is attached through a sieve or a screen onto a substrate 10, and this is treated in an oxidized atmosphere by heating. Next, after an electric conductivity layer 2 has been provided for forming the 1st electrode, the mixture of ceramic pyroelectric latently with glass and piezoelectric is latently diffused in the rheology liquid, stuck through the sieve or screen, to which the mask is attached, and treated by heating and a pyroelectric layer 3 is formed. Next, the mixture of glass powder in prescribed composition and powderδ2 in prescribed composition having conductivity and thermal absorptivity is diffused in the rheology liquid, and a 2nd electrode 4 is provided.
