A compound superconductive wire has an elongate member formed of an A3B compound superconductor and an alloy member which is formed of an alloy of metal A and copper, the metal A being the constituent element of the A3B compound superconductor, and which is longitudinally mounted along with the elongate member such that the alloy member contacts with the elongate member. A method for producing a compound superconductive wire has the steps of mounting an alloy member formed of metal A and copper, the metal A being the constituent element of an A3B compound superconductor, to an elongate member formed of metal B or an alloy of mainly formed of the metal B, the metal B being the constituent element of the A3B compound superconductor, such that the alloy member longitudinally contacts with the elongate member to form a complex elongate member, performing the reduction-working to the complex elongate member to form a wire member, and heating the wire member for diffusion to make the metal B to diffuse into metal A.
