1284791 Detergents UNILEVER Ltd 1 April 1970 [2 April 1969] 15408/70 Heading C5D A detergent composition comprising, as sole detergent surfactant, 5-100% by wt. of an active detergent mixture consisting of an alkali metal, ammonium or substituted NH 4 soap of a fatty acid with 8-24 carbon atoms and a compound of general Formula I in which R denotes a branched or straight-chain C 8 -C 24 aliphatic hydrocarbon residue which may be unsaturated, a C 8 -C 24 alkylamine residue or a C 8 -C 24 acylamide residue; R<SP>1</SP> is -C 2 H 4 - or -C 3 H 6 or a mixture thereof; n is 1-40, m is 1 to 3; M is H or a cation, in a wt. ratio of 10 : 1 to 1 : 10 of the soap to the compound of Formula I. M may be an alkali metal, e.g. sodium, an alkaline earth metal, e.g. calcium, an amine or an alkylolamine. Up to 45% wt., preferably 10% wt., of a builder may be present. The builder may be inorganic, e.g. a polyphosphate, alone or in admixture with an organic builder such as ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid, nitrilo-tri-acetic acid or an alkali metal salt thereof. Optional ingredients are sodium silicate, sodium carbonate, sodium perborate, sodium carboxymethylcellulose, enzymes (e.g. proteases, amylases and/or lipases) and other conventional detergent auxiliaries.
