Method comprises contacting the stream, while at a well head pressure of about 760-880 psig, with a polyvalent metal chelate soln. of pH 8.0-9.2, in stoichiometric excess of the H2S, for less than 80 millisec to absorb H2S and not CO2, by flowing the gas stream and the soln. past 2-6 mixing elements of a static mixer. Pref. the asborbent soln. may be an alkaline liq., solns. of diethanolamine and N-methyldiethanolamine being esp. pref. The polyvalent metal chelate soln. esp. contains the Fe chelate of N-hydroxyethylene diaminetriacetic acid (HEDTA). Its pH may be adjusted by Na2CO3 or (NH4)2CO3. Other pref. polyvalent metals are Cu and The static mixer pref. contains 6 mixing elements. |
