Thermal printing ink web supply device - uses removal spacer defining relative spacing of ink web supply and take=up reels

The ink web supply device has a mounting (30) supporting the supply reel (2) for the ink web and a take-up reel (4) for the used ink web parallel to one another at a relative spacing defined by a spacer (5) fitted between them before their insertion in the mounting. The spacer is removed after their insertion and forms part of the packaging protecting the ink web during transport. The latter packaging pref. uses a removable cover strip (20) wrapped around the outside of the two reels (2, 4) with the spacer fitted between them. An adhesive surface joins its overlapping ends together. ADVANTAGE - Ensures simple correct alignment of supply and take-up reel.
