NEW MATERIAL:The antibiotic substance 83-16-a having the following physical and chemical properties, and its salt. Elemental composition, C36H50N2O7 (by high-resolution mass-spectrum); molecular weight, 622 (by FD-MS); melting point 131 deg.C (begins partially to melt at 128 deg.C and liquefies at 132 deg.C without causing brown discoloration); specific rotation, [alpha]<20>D=+174 deg. (C=0.1, methanol); solubility, insoluble in hexane and water, soluble in chloroform, THF, ethyl acetate, acetone, methanol, etc.; color reaction, positive to iodine reaction and sulfuric acid reaction, and negative to ninhydrin, Dragendorff and FeCl3 reactions; nature, weakly acidic substance; appearance, colorless amorphous powder, etc. USE:Carcinostatic agent. PREPARATION:The objective substance can be prepared by culturing a microbial strain belonging to Streptomyces genus, e.g. Streptomyces sp. 83-16 strain (FERM P-7981) preferably by deep aeration and agitation process at 27 deg.C under neutral pH condition. |
