The invention relates to a closing element (1) for a closing machine for closing bottles (4) with crown caps (15) or suchlike closures by means of the closing element, which is arranged above a bottle carrier and can be lowered in a vertical axis (L) from a starting position and returned into this starting position, and which has a deforming member and a holding-down device (26) passing centrally through the deforming member and spring-loaded by at least one holding-down spring (25), so as to mount the particular closure on the mouth (4') of the bottle and subsequently secure the closure on this mouth by deforming said closure while at the same time pressing said closure against the mouth. In order to achieve, in addition to a soft and rapid mounting of the closure on the bottle to be closed, also a reliable alignment and centring of the closure relative to the bottle and a reliable alignment and centring of the bottle, provided with the closure, relative to the closing element, the holding-down device is displaceable in the vertical axis by a preset stroke (x1) with respect to a closing-element part interacting with the holding-down spring (25). A plurality of outlet openings (34) for an inert gas are also provided on the centring element (16). Openings for supplying and discharging a cleaning or rinsing fluid are provided on the part of the holding-down device possessing the face of said holding-down device, for cleaning by the CIP method. At least one of these openings is connected, by a channel extending through the holding-down device, to a connection which is provided in the region of the end of the holding-down device remote from the face of said holding-device. …<IMAGE>… |
