PURPOSE:To automatically measure the displacement quantity of a recording unit from a recording paper on which a measuring pattern is printed to allow the measurement within a short time by providing a pattern reader and a control means. CONSTITUTION:An MPU 20 reads a measurement pattern of a pattern memory 20a to form printing data, which is supplied to recording units 10-13 for each color to print a mark on a recording paper. During the time when a light emitting diode is lighted, the output of one line of CCD line sensors 194a, 194b is read from A/D converters 23a, 23b, and stored in each area of an image memory 20b. Then, the MPU 20 detects the vertical coordinate of the pattern from each color area of the memory 20b. The horizontal coordinates of left and right patterns of each color are also detected from the memory 20b to operate the horizontal coordinate difference between the left and right patterns. The MPU 20 operates the inclination of each color, and further calculates and displays the main scanning directional displacement. An adjusting person conducts adjustment by use of an adjusting screw, seeing the displacement information indicated on a display part 21. |
