EFFICIENT PRODUCTION OF MOIST HEAT-TREATED STARCH

PURPOSE:To obtain the title starch excellent in an ability to absorb alpha-amylase efficiently on a relatively large scale within a short time by heating starch for a specified time under specified conditions and cooling it. CONSTITUTION:Starch is put in a sealable container provided with both a vacuum line and a pressurization steam line and resisting to internal and external pressures. The pressure in the container is diminished, and pressure and heat are applied to the starch by feeding steam to the container. This operation is repeated to heat the starch for a given time, and the starch is cooled.
