PURPOSE:To enhance raw preservability, oil resistance and scratch resistance by adding a water-soluble polymer and/or polymer latex to a hot-melt colorant layer and prescribing the pH of the film surface of a thermal transfer recording medium. CONSTITUTION:A colorant, a water-soluble polymer and/or polymer latex and a hot-melt substance are added to a hot melt colorant layer. As the water-soluble polymer to be used, polyester substituted with at least one kind of a component selected from sulfonic acid, sulfonate, carboxylic acid and carboxylate is pref. Prior to manufacturing, 2-3 drops of pure water are dripped on the film obtained by applying at least the hot-melt colorant layer to a support and drying the same and allowed to stand for 5min and the pH of the film is measured. At this time, the pH of the surface of the film is set to 8.5 or more and an alkali agent and an acid agent are added to a coating solution to adjust the pH thereof. By this method, an aqueous thermal transfer recording medium excellent in raw preservability, oil resistance and scratch resistance can be obtained. |
