<p>This invention relates to a crystalline polyacetylene polymer which is visually imageable by laser emission in the 400-900 nm wavelength range and which is derived from a polyacetylene monomer having formula (I) wherein X is a polar hydrophilic moiety containing a radical of the group comprising amino, amido, hydroxy, ester, ether, phenol, carboxy, carbonate, halo, sulfonyl, sulfoxy, sulfonyl, silyl, siloxy, phosphoro, phosphate, keto, aldehyde, urea and urethane radicals or a metal salt; X1 is hydrogen, alkyl, aryl, alkaryl, aralkyl or is selected from the group defined for X and n has a value greater than 1. The invention also relates to the process of imaging said polyacetylene polymer by exposure to laser emissions and to the imaged product of the process.</p> |
