Process involves (i) passing hydrogen gas, which is endothermically released by controlled pressure relief of a low temp. hydride storage material located in a space or medium to be cooled, to the heat prodn. location; and (ii) catalytically combusting the hydrogen gas with oxygen, pref. from the atmos. Appts. for carrying out the process is also claimed. ADVANTAGE - Controlled simultaneous heating and cooling are provided in an environmentally-friendly manner, independent of external energy sources.
