<p>A pump for inflating downhole inflatable packers includes a case (92) defining an inlet port (222) and an outlet passageway (312) therein, the outlet passageway being in communication with an inflatable packer in the well bore. An elastomeric stator (226) is disposed in the case (92) between the inlet port (222) and the outlet passageway (312), and the stator (226) has a convoluted inner surface (232). A rotor (184) is disposed in the stator and is rotatable with respect thereto. The rotor has a convoluted outer surface (234) thereon engaged with the inner surface of the stator such that a plurality of progressive pumping cavities (236) are defined therebetween. As the rotor is rotated within the stator, fluid is moved from one cavity to the next, thereby pumping fluid from the inlet to the outlet. The rotor has a central opening (45) therethrough which provides communication between the packer and an upper testing string portion. The rotor is preferably supported on bearings (146,174) and/or bushings (260). An oil reservoir (192) provides lubrication to the bearings. A debris collection chamber (307) collects debris in the pump. The rotor and stator are sized such that the differential pressure across the pump is limited to a predetermined level so that the packers cannot be over-inflated. <IMAGE> <IMAGE></p> |
