PURPOSE:To add a dye capable of obtaining an image more excellent in preservability as a colorant by preparing a thermal transfer sheet containing a specific dye as a colorant. CONSTITUTION:A thermal transfer sheet 4 is obtained by providing a colorant layer containing a dye 2 sublimed or gasified by heat on a base film 1. In formula, R is a chromophoric group, R<1> and R<2> are together a substituent with molecular volume of 73-160cm<3>/mol and n is 1 or 2. The dye is one wherein a tertiary amino group having a substituent 7 large in steric hindrance is introduced into a chromophoric group 5 of a relatively stable anthraquinone, napthoquinone or styryl type as an auxochromous group 6. The auxochromous group 6 becomes hard to generate electrophilic reaction by the presence of the substituent 7 large in steric hindrance and the structural change is suppressed. Therefore, the image drawn by the dye 2 becomes hard to discolor. |
