An inclination angle control means controls an inclination angle to a work of an optical axis of the laser beam condensed by the condensing nozzle 3 in accordance with a working step of cutting. For instance, the inclination angle control means executes the control so that the inclination angle of the optical axis is held at a prescribed inclination angle at the time of piercing in a cutting start point, and it is held vertically at the time of cutting after piercing is completed. Therefore, even if a molten metal is scattered due to a thermal runaway at the time of piercing, a condensing lens 10 is not flawed. Also, at the time of piercing of a high reflection material, it is executed safely because a reflected light does not return to an oscillator side. In such a way, working can be executed not by pulse working but by a continuous output, and piercing can be executed at a high speed and safely.
