发明名称 PRODUCTION OF 1,2-BIS(3,4-DIMETHYLPHENYL)ETHANE
摘要 PURPOSE:To increase content of 1,2-bis(dimethylphenyl)ethane and to recover 1,2-bis(3,4-dimethylphenyl)ethane from a reaction mixture by reacting a mixture of bis(dimethylphenyl)ethane having low content of the title 1,2-bis(3,4- dimethylphenyl) ethane with o-xylene. CONSTITUTION:(A) 100 pts.wt. mixture of 1,2-bis(dimethylphenyl)ethane having low content of the title 1,2-bis(3,4-dimethylphenyl)ethane is allowed to react with >=50 pts.wt. o-xylene in the presence of 0.1-20 pts.wt. metal chloride such as AlCl3 at 50-100 deg.C to increase content of 1,2-bis(dimethylphenyl)ethane and to recover 1,2-bis(dimethylphenyl)ethane. Since the residue after recover of the title 1,2-bis(3,4-dimethylphenyl)ethane can repeatedly be used as the mixture A and as a raw material, the title 1,2-bis(3,4-dimethylphenyl)ethane can be produced without causing waste. By the above-mentioned method, content of 1,2-bis(dimethylphenyl)ethane can be increased from 0-40wt.% to >=50wt.%. By adding dichloroethane to coexist with o-xylene, content of the objective substance is improved and the objective substance is also obtained by mutual reaction of o-xylene and dichloroethane.
