PURPOSE:To enlarge the operating range as wide as possible within upper limit of control delay angle or control margin angle of an AC/DC converter by providing means for regulating the margin angle or control delay angle at this end so that the control delay angle and margin angle at the counterpart end do not exceed maximum values determined based on the withstanding capacity of a thyristor valve. CONSTITUTION:Means for regulating the marging angle gamma and the control delay angle alpha at this end so that the control delay angle alpha and the margin angle gammaat the counterpart end do not exceed maximum values (alphaMAX, gammaMAX) determined based on the withstanding capacity of a thyristor valve is provided. When the amount of power during operation is designated at PDC or QDC, an alpha, gamma value determining circuit 7 in each of AC/DC converters 1, 2 determines the values of alpha, gamma so that alphaMAX and gammaMAX are not exceeded and thus determined alpha, gamma are delivered to pulse generating circuits 5, 6 thus operating the AC/DC converters 1, 2 according to command values. According to the constitution, operating range is enlarged resulting in an effective reactive power control. |
