PRODUCTION OF YEAST PIGMENT

PURPOSE:To obtain the subject practical pigment having highly uniform particle diameters in a short time by mixing yeast cells with fine particle powder under a dry condition and subsequently subjecting the mixture to an immobilization treatment to attach the fine particle powder to the peripheries of the yeast cells. CONSTITUTION:The cells of a yeast such as Saccharomyces.cerevisiae are mixed with fine particle powder such as titanium dioxide or zinc white under solvent-free and dry conditions and subsequently subjected to an immobilization treatment with stirring at a high speed to provide the objective pigment where the fine particle powder is attached to the peripheries of the yeast cells. The average particle of the fine particle powder is preferably <=1/5 of that of the yeast cells.
