The compounds are of general formula (I) or (II) where Y is a group or an atom chosen from H, F, N3, dimethyldithiocarbamoyl (Me2NCSS) and diethyldithiocarbamoyl (Et2NCSS) and B is a natural or modified purine or pyrimidine base, excluding 4'-thio-2', 3'-didesoxy-2,6-diamino purine riboside and 4'-thio-2',3'-didesoxy cytidine and compounds of the above-mentioned general formula in which when Y is fluorine, B is pyrimidine. The compounds may be prepared, in particular, from L-arabinose, D-xylose or D-glucose. Application in antiviral, antitumoral and antibiotic drugs.
