Use of fatty alcohol based compositions comprising: from 60 to 90 % by weight of at least one fatty alcohol having from 12 to 22 carbon atoms, preferably from 16 to 18 carbon atoms; from 10 to 40 % by weight of an alkylpolyoside, preferably an alkylpolyoside the alkyl portion of which is identical to that of the fatty alcohol; and optionally, from 0.5 to 5 % of polyoside for the preparation of emulsions. Application, in particular, in the production of cosmetic and pharmaceutical emulsions.
