PURPOSE: To obtain a skin preparation for external use, containing an ingredient originated from a Hypericaceae plant alone or together with an ingredient originated from a Paeoniaceae plant and useful for preventing and treating acne or chapped skins. CONSTITUTION: This skin preparation for external use contains (A) an ingredient originated from a Hypericaceae plant, preferably the stems or leaves of Hypericum erectum Thumb., alone or together with (B) an ingredient originated from a Paeoniaceae plant, preferably B1 : the roots and leaves of Paeonia suffruticosa, Andr., and/or B2 : the roots of Paeonia lactiflora Pail., in a total amount of 0.005-10wt.%, preferably 0.01-5wt.%. The combination of both the ingredients A and B gives a synergistic effect, and the ingredients A and B are compounded in a B1 : A ratio of 0.7:9.3 to 7.5:2.5, a B2 : A ratio of 1.5:8.5 to 6.3:3.7, and a (B1 +B2 )/2:A ratio of 1.5:8.5 to 6.3:3.7. Also when an ingredient originated from an Oleaceae plant is used instead of the ingredient originated from the Hypericaceae plant, the approximately same effect is obtained. |
