A circuit for scanning optical data substrates comprises a scanning device, a first control circuit to focus a scanning device light beam directed on the information plane of the data substrate and a second control circuit to guide the light beam along an information track. The first control circuit has a first control amplifier to which the focus error signal is taken and the second control circuit has a second control amplifier to which the track error signal is taken. The control amplifiers control actuators which mechanically adjust the scanning device. To compensate for control amplification temperature variations, there are adjusters connected via amplification regulators to temperature sensors in the first and second control circuits which alter the amplification dependently upon the temperature.
