Coke-oven mortar contg. alumina, silica, and phosphorus pent:oxide

Mortar comprises (%, dry basis) 25-88 SiO2, 6-65 Al2O3, 4-12 P2O5 and less than 4% other solids and sufficient liq. to give workable consistency. SiO2 and Al2O3 are pref. 60-70 and 25-35% respectively. P2O5 is pref. 7-11 and esp. 8-10%, major portion is pref. colloidal. All components are pref. finer than 420 micron. Mortar is used to form monolithic heating wall of silica bricks.
