PURPOSE:To produce the titled substance in high yield, by adding a biotin precursor to a multiplied microbial cell in cultivating a microorganism having the ability to produce the titled substance, and producing and accumulating the titled substance. CONSTITUTION:A microorganism, e.g. Bacillus sphaericus or Pseudomonas taetrolens, having the ability to produce a biotin active substance (biotin vitamer) is cultivated in a culture medium containing a carbon source, a nitrogen source, etc. by the shaking or spinner culture method with aeration. In the cultivation process, a biotin precursor, e.g. pimelic acid, azelaic acid or dethiobiotin, is added to the culture medium after the cultivation of the microorganism and the multiplication of the microbial cell thereof, and cultivated to produce the biotin active substance (biotin vitamer) in a high accumulated amount. |
