<p>In a band, which is produced as a strip from a broad textile web by fusion separation cuts, hard fused edges 23 remain on the band edge. To provide satisfactory, soft edges, the strip 20 is turned down at its margin regions along a folding line 24 parallel to the edge, and forms folded sections 25 which are pressed flat on the adjoining zone 26 of the band 34 and are fixed in this folded position, preferably by fusion heat 33.
