OPTICAL RECORDING MEDIUM AND PRODUCTION THEREOF

PURPOSE:To form a protective layer having the lower influence on the recording layer of the optical recording medium by forming the protective layer consisting of the coated film of a light transparent org. high polymer on the recording layer having <50 deg. contact angle of the surface with water. CONSTITUTION:The surface of the recording layer 2 is subjected to a plasma treatment, by which the contact angle of the surface of the recording layer 2 with the water is confined to <50 deg.. The formation of the flat protective layer 3 is difficult if the contact angle with the water increases >=50 deg.. The coated film of the org. high polymer is used as the protective layer 3 to be provided on the recording layer 2. The soln. of the water-soluble high-polymer material or the thin film of an aq. suspension is easily and uniformly applied on the recording layer and the excellent protective layer of the recording layer is formed.
