PURPOSE:To use ion-exchanged water in electrolysis without waste and to efficiently generate ozone by detecting the level of anolyte in an electrolytic cell and feeding only the irreducible min. amt. of ion-exchanged water into the cell. CONSTITUTION:An anode chamber 13 and a cathode chamber 14 are filled with an electrolytic soln., electric current is supplied to generate ozone-contg. gas in the chamber 13 and this gas is drawn from an outlet 17. Anolyte provided with cations in the chamber 13 reaches the chamber 14 through a solid electrolyte 12 and the level of the electrolytic soln. in the chamber 13 lowers. Water stored in a feed tank 1 is introduced into an ion exchange tower 6 by a pump 5 and converted into ion-exchanged water. When the level of the anolyte in the chamber 13 is above a prescribed value, a solenoid valve 7 is regulated so as to return the ion-exchanged water drawn from the tower 6 to the tank 1. When a level of the anolyte below the prescribed value is detected, the valve 7 is operated so as to feed the ion-exchanged water into the chamber 13. The level of the anolyte in the chamber 13 is kept at the prescribed value or above and ozone is efficiently generated. |
