<p>1284978 Halomethylphosphonous dihalides STAUFFER CHEMICAL CO 21 April 1970 [19 May 1969] 18911/70 Heading C2P Compounds of the formula where X, X<SP>1</SP> and X<SP>11</SP> are each fluorine, chlorine, or bromine, are prepared by passing a gaseous mixture of a phosphorus trihalide and a methyl halide rapidly through a heated reaction zone in which the temperature is maintained at 500- 600‹ C. and recovering the product from the gaseous effluent. The process may be carried out continuously by recycling the gaseous effluent. Preferably the reactants are phosphorus trichloride and methyl chloride.</p> |
