Hinge, consisting of a flexible band 1 and a permanently elastic joint 2, which holds together two rigid panel pieces 3 but allows these to be rotated in relation to one another. The hinge is used in particular for producing universal building elements for use for covering or undercladding work in roof constructions, where roof surfaces meet at varying angles. The hinge is designed in a manner which forces it to undergo a change in shape from the shape in which it is produced to the shape it has in its functional application. The change in shape is used to produce an elastic joint which connects and brings about watertightness between the two rigid panels, in the span between the edges of these panels, these being held together by a flexible band which at the same time fixes the elastic joint. <IMAGE>
