摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain a light reflecting material having uniform reflectance, good adhesiveness, high mechanical strength, and long life by immersing specified surfaces of a carbonate phosphor in an acidic substance, a basic substance or a carbonate to deposit an opaque substance layer thereon. CONSTITUTION:The surfaces of a phosphor comprising a single crystal of lead carbonate except the surface to be joined with the light detecting element of a radiation detector are immersed in at least one acidic substance such as sulfuric, nitric or hydrochloric acid, at least one basic substance such as sodium or barium hydroxide, or at least one carbonate such as sodium carbonate to cause reaction. Thus, an opaque substance layer of lead hydroxide, basic lead carbonate, lead carbonate, etc., is deposited on the surfaces to form a layer of a light reflecting material, thus giving an objective light reflecting material. Since the deposited lead compound comprises a modification of the surface of crystal, it can be formed at once as a whole, the thickness can be controlled easily, and constant characteristics of finished film can be obtained.
