Method of recording and processing data for managing the driving of road vehicles, characterised by the following steps: - choosing at least one journey for the vehicle; - taking the vehicle at least once on the chosen journey while recording vehicle parameters during the journey, the said parameters being, for example, the gear ratio engaged in the gearbox, the instantaneous engine speed, the instantaneous speed of the vehicle, the actuation of the brake pedal, the fuel consumption, the value of acceleration and deceleration; - analyzing the recordings so as to define their characteristics specific to the journey and in particular the manner of varying and maintaining the kinetic energy of the vehicle; -recording various vehicle driving styles over the journey; - comparing the results for the various driving styles; - defining an optimum driving of the vehicle over the journey on the basis of these results; - enhancing the driving of drivers by comparing their driving styles with the optimum driving which becomes a reference driving; - possibly continuously monitoring the result of this enhancement of driving in each type of journey.
