Device for separating paper and cardboard waste from an air flow (F), situated at the exit of a conduit (1) for pneumatic conveying of this waste. According to the invention this device includes a decompression chamber (2) intended to reduce the speed of the air flow (F), which emerges onto an air-permeable moving endless belt conveyor (4) whose forward-moving section (40) receives the said waste and conveys it towards a recovery column (5) at atmospheric pressure in which it falls by gravity, the conveyor (4) carrying a series of scraper blades (6) distributed along it and perpendicularly to the belt, the scraper blades providing the leakproofing between the decompression chamber (2) and the recovery column (5). <IMAGE>
