PURPOSE:To improve a recording reliability by a method wherein a cleaning liquid is composed of a mixture liquid of at least an organic solvent, a surfactant, and water. CONSTITUTION:As an organic solvent, alcohol or glycol ether is used, and especially ethanol, isopropyl alcohol, and the like are effectively used. As a surfactant, a nonionic surfactant having a high specific resistance is used by taking an electric safety into consideration because it is to be sprayed on the surface of an ink jet head. As water, pure water is used. The kind and mixing ratio of these three liquids depend on the kind of ink in use and the structure and action of a cleaning device. However, it is desirable that the ratio of the organic solvent is as low as possible in view of a safety to human bodies and a prevention of a firing hazard. In addition, because the main ingredients of the surfactant remain on the surface of the ink jet head after cleaning and drying, it is also required that the water should be contained as large as possible to prevent the ink jet head from being adversely affected. |
