METHOD OF ADMINISTERING AMILORIDE

Disclosed is a method of removing retained mucus secretions from the lungs of a subject in need of such treatment. The method comprises delivering by inhalation an aerosol suspension of respirable solid particulate amiloride to the respiratory system of the subject. As a result of the treatment, the secretions are hydrated and more easily transported from the lung via mucociliary action. Pharmaceutical compositions comprised of solid particulate amiloride are also disclosed.
