The cutting head of a power driven rotary plane for planing wood or plastics has a groove (15) in the cutting head body. The sides of the groove converge in the radially outward direction. The blade (19) and its holder (17) are fitted in the groove and are held in place by a wedge (21) which tends to move radially outwards under the effect of centrifugal force. A spring-loaded ball (55) is pressed against the inner bevelled edge of the blade holder and prevents the blade from being pressed unintentionally too deeply into the groove (15). USE/ADVANTAGE - Power driven rotary plane has stop to prevent blade being inserted too deeply in fixing groove.
