A parking aid for a vehicle comprises a set of 4 auxiliary wheels 7 (only one shown) which may be lowered into contact with the ground and then driven to move the car laterally. The wheels are lowered by means of a hydraulic cylinder 3, and driven by a hydraulic motor 4 which drives a pinion mounted on the wheel axis. The cylinders and wheels are driven by a common hydraulic system which is controlled by the driver in his cab. The wheels may be lowered individually to act as jacks. The auxiliary wheels may be braked, and an electromagnet may be located so as to prevent 'striking' of the hydraulic cylinders from their parked position during normal travel. <IMAGE>
