PURPOSE:To provide a secondary battery having less decrease in the capacity due to self-discharging, less decomposition of electrolyte when storing Li, suppressed generation of gas, and excellent cycle characteristics by using a neg. electrode material chiefly containing a carbonic substance which occludes and emits alkali metal ion or alkali earth metal ion.
