The method for informing the user of the abnormal state of VTR by displaying the state on a display unit comprises the steps of detecting the generation of abnormal state of a VTR by a syscon IC (1) to transmit an abnormal operating pulse signal to a timer microcomputer (2) by using a serial interface data, detecting the abnormal state pulse signal from the serial interface data signal by the timer microcomputer (2) and transmitting the abnormal operation displaying data (DED) to a digitron (3) to display the state, thereby informing the user of the abnormal operating state.
