Storage and transfer system for pallets and containers - has transverse conveyors mounted on ends of shelves and on fork-lift truck

Pallets and containers are stored on shelves arranged in rows with the shelves of each row being arranged one above another. A fork-lift truck travels along the gangway between the rows in order to transfer the pallets or containers to and from the shelves. The fork lift truck has a platform (9) which can be raised or lowered to align it with the required shelf (12). To facilitate the transfer of the pallets and containers, transverse conveyors (14) are installed at the ends of each shelf and a similar conveyor is mounted on the platform of the fork-lift truck.
