PURPOSE:To obtain the subject carbon fiber felt useful for a heat-insulating material in a high-temperature furnace or a nuclear reactor having heat- insulating properties in a high-temperature region and stability to radioactive rays having a specific bulk density and thermal conductivity and keeping a shape of felt with bonding between carbon fibers. CONSTITUTION:For instance, carbon fibers having 1-9mum averaged single fiber diameter (e.g. pitch-based carbon fiber) are intermingled to form a shape of felt to afford the aimed carbon fiber felt having 0.01-0.5g/cm<3> bulk density and <=1.0kcal/m.hr. deg.C thermal conductivity to a thickness direction of felt at 2200 deg.C. |
