A servo system (1) contains a driven body, a hydraulic drive unit, a mechanical hydraulic servovalve with a spool tensioned by a spring and movably mounted in the servovalve and a drive plate with a helical slot in its outer peripheral surface. The servovalve is mounted on the driven body and the drive plate is rotatably attached to the hydraulic drive unit. A flexible belt is attached between the spool and the drive plate with an intermediate part in the slot to tension it. When the drive plate is rotated the valve spool is moved by the belt, thus actuating the hydraulic drive unit. USE/ADVANTAGE - The system enables accurate displacement measurement and remote control without requiring drive elements with intermediate gears or threads.
