PURPOSE:To know in a real time either a residual capacity to be recorded of a recording media or the residual number of recording media to be photographed by calculating the residual capacity to be recorded of the recording media, and displaying it in the real time at a display means in a prescribed display form. CONSTITUTION:Still picture signals picked up by an image pickup part 1 are transmitted through an A/D converter 2 to a picture compression encoding part 3. The encoding part 3 successively operates a two-dimensional DCT (discrete cosine transformation), quantizes a DCT coefficient, and then operates a variable length encoding in order to compress the data. The compression- encoded picture data are transmitted to a data managing part 4. The data managing part 4 checks the quantity of the picture, data, calculates the accumulated value of the picture data, and stores it. And also, the data managing part 4 transmits the picture data to a picture storing part 5 according to a prescribed recording sequence, and writes and records them on a video floppy disk. Then, the residual capacity of the recording capacity of the video floppy disk is calculated, and displayed at a display device 6. |
