PURPOSE:To improve density and resistance to oxidation by mixing heavy oil with graphitic powder, burning in a non-oxidative atmosphere, crushing, molding, carbonizing by burning and graphitizing. CONSTITUTION:Heavy oil (e.g. de-QI pitch) is mixed with 5-30wt.% graphitic powder having 10-50mum average granular diameter and subjected to heat treatment in a non-oxidative atmosphere at 400-500 deg.C for 3-7hr to obtain a raw material of carbon material. Next, said raw material is crushed to 20-40mum average granular diameter and molded without using any binder, then carbonized by burning in a non-oxidative atmosphere at 1000-1200 deg.C, thus graphitized at 2000-3000 deg.C. |
