Device for driving a hydraulic pump fixed to a motor cycle, by the engine of the latter in order to constitute a lightweight manoeuvrable and fast self-propelled motor pump unit. The invention relates to a system for driving a centrifugal pump from the drive shaft of the engine of a motorcycle by means of a transmission actuated by a pulley or pinion rendered integral with the crank shaft of the engine of the vehicle (1) driving an intermediate double pulley or pinion (2) fixed to the frame of the said motor cycle by means of a belt or chain (4), which free pulley or pinion in turn drives the pulley or pinion (3) fixed to the shaft of the pump by the same means, belt or chain (5). The diameter of the various pulleys or pinions is determined depending on the stepdown ratio required in order to obtain, from the rotation of the engine at a given speed, the number of rpm at the pump allowing it to give the output (pressure and delivery) required. This device includes, at the intermediate free pulley or pinion, a clutch device allowing the pump to be driven or not driven during the operation of the engine of the motor cycle. <IMAGE>
