Signal processor for cable TV distribution - transmits thirty video channels along single cable conductor via separate delay circuits and signal splitters

The system extracts the 50 micro-second analogue line scan signals from a number of video signals, compresses them down to 2 microsecond signals and sends the in series along the cable distribution network. At the receiving end of the network, the signals selected by the receiver are expanded to their normal length. Up to thirty programmes (PROG1 to PROG30) are fed via individual delay circuits (A) and signal splitters (C) to a sampling and compressing circuit (D). The resultant signals are multiplexed (E), pre-processed (F) and fed via a phase locked loop (G,H) to the cable output amplifier (K).
