This invention relates to a flocculating apparatus which performs control so that the amount of addition of a flocculant can be optimized, and can minimize the water content of a dehydrated cake. The apparatus includes chemical charging devices (6), (7), (8) for adding variable amounts of the flocculant to a solution to be subjected to flocculation, a thermal migration detector (12) for detecting a minute property change in the solution to which the flocculant is to be added, the solution to which the flocculant has been edded or a solution provided in such a manner as to come into contact with the filtrate of the solution to which the flocculant has been added, and a controller (16) for controlling the chemical charging quantity by the chemical charging device (8) so that the detection value of the thermal migration detector (12) becomes least, minimal or a value within the a desired range. |
