Slag conditioner for desulphurizing steel. A slag conditioner for desulphurizing steel which is constructed in the form of sealed capsules with an aluminium metal exterior which wholly encloses the powder product within, which is based on a mixture of alumina, fluorspar, various oxides and salts. These sealed capsules are incorporated directly into the ladle in the refining process at the time when the said ladle is poured into the converter.
