PURPOSE:To prevent cleaned liquid toner from staying in a wedge-shaped space by attaching a porous body toward a waste toner box to a cleaning blade, at the upper steam side in the advancing direction of an image carrier from the contact position of the image carrier, and in the vicinity of the contact position. CONSTITUTION:The cleaning of aqueous liquid toner 3 remaining on the image carrier 2 without being transferred is carried out on the image carrier 2, at the contact position 6. The cleaned liquid toner 3 is stayed in the wedge-shaped space A having the contact position 6 as the top and constituted with the cleaning blade 1 and the image carrier 2. Cleaning is continued, and when the liquid toner 3 of a fixed quantity is stayed in the wedge-shaped space A, one end of the liquid toner 3 comes into contact with the porous body 4, and is quickly infiltrated with a capillary action because the porous body 4 is a hydrophilic member. The attaching angle THETA of the porous body 4, with respect to the contact line of the image carrier 2 at the contact position, is set at the angle thetaformed by the contact line of the image carrier and a line in a vertical direction at the same position, or above. |
