PURPOSE:To obtain high sensitivity by directly forming a thermal color forming layer on a paper support by constituting the paper support of a mixture consisting of wood pulp and a polyolefin fiber having a specific shape and a fibril structure. CONSTITUTION:A thermal recording material is constituted of a sheet-like support composed of paper containing wood pulp and the thermal color forming layer directly formed on the sheet-like support and containing a dye precursor and a developer reacting with the dye precursor under heating to develop a color. The paper support contains a mixture of wood pulp and a polyolefin fiber as a main component and the polyolefin fiber has a non-rod shape and a flat surface and is bent and/or curved and has a fibril structure and the mixing ratio thereof is set to 5-30% by wt. of the sum of the wood pulp and the polyolefin fiber. When the mixing ratio is 5% or less, opacity and the surface smoothness of raw paper are insufficient and, when the mixing ratio is 30% or more, there is possibility such that the heat insulating properties of raw paper are reduced. |
